All previous spellings were Lowery, Loughery, or Laughery. They came from Northern Ireland for the counties Tyrone and Cork in about 1750. Apparently they were Protestant. Also The occpation of James was trading with the Indians. James and Mary were livin in Washington County, Hanover township, Pennsylvania in the 1790 census., or Fayette County, Bullskin Township, Pennsylvania. 1800 census showed that they had 3 boys and 3 girls at this time (no names given), wife was maybe "Mary ?"
